Adding a New Placement Rule

Placement Rules keep instances on separate nodes, or the same node, via the tag placed on the instance.
The Placement Rule Wizard:

Navigate to Rules under Compute, then click on the ‘Add Rule’ button to open the wizard.

The first dropdown menu selects the tag, and the rule for their node placement is contained in the second dropdown menu.

If the instances in question have different tags, click on the ‘Different-tagged VMs’ radio button.

Then select the tags for the rule, and then the logic from the appropriate dropdown menus.

Finally, select the enforcement style of this rule.

A hard enforcement will not allow VMs to be created with the tags and the associated rule if cluster resources are near capacity.

Soft enforcement bends the rule if cluster resources are near capacity.
