The target group is the group of instances that the load balancer distributes to. This must be created first before creating the load balancer.

Step 1:

• Navigate to Load Balancing > Target Groups and click on the create button.

  

  
  
  

• Name the target group.

• Click the add button until there are the desired amount of rows.

• For each row, select the instance from the dropdown menu, and specify which port the instance is configured to manage the application’s traffic.

• Clicking Ok will create this group, and will be ready to be applied to a Load Balancer.
