A load balancer distributes traffic to the target group. The target group must be created first before the load balancer can be configured.

Step 1:

• Navigate to Load Balancing > Load Balancers and click on the create button.

  

  
  
  

• Name the Load Balancer.

• Select the network it will reside in.

• Assign the Load Balancer a Floating IP (please visit the Floating IP Tutorial to see how this is done)

• Add a security group.

• And assign an instance type.

  

  
  
  

• Clicking next opens the Listeners sub menu.

• Add the target group or groups, and specify the port on the load balancer that applications should send their requests to.

• Clicking finish will spin up this Load Balancer instance.
